Golden Milk Tea Lattes – or in other words – 12 ounces of pure bliss! It’s common knowledge that rest is vital for our mental and physical health, but often times it can be hard to simply unwind. I’ve noticed that finding a ritual that reminds us to take a few moments to relax and rejoice can make a huge difference in keeping the mind & body at ease (and our cortisol levels!).
In the colder months, my ritual will be to make a hot cup of this Golden Milk Tea Latte. It’s slightly sweet, creamy, but not too heavy, making it a special treat to get cozy with after a long day. Golden milk gets its name from the deep golden-yellow color that the turmeric powder brings to this warm drink. Not only does turmeric provide its beautiful color, but it is also known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties (and more!). Add a touch of honey and it becomes the perfect sweet treat to indulge in.
Golden Milk Tea Latte
(1 serving, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian)
- 1.5 cups boiling water (12 oz)
- 2 Tbsp coconut cream*
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
- Pinch of pepper**
- 1/2 – 1 tsp honey
- optional: drop of vanilla extract
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until frothy!
*If you prefer to not use coconut cream, you can substitute with your milk of choice and simply omit the coconut cream and boiling water. Simply use 1.5 cups of plant milk that you heat up and add to the blender.
**I know pepper seems weird to add, but the pepper is what enables the turmeric to be bioavailable to our bodies. Something to remember when cooking with turmeric is to always add a touch of pepper to reap its benefits.
