Almond Butter Hot Chocolate

Oh yes, you read that right. This hot chocolate is made using almond butter to make the most creamy dreamy hot weather bevvie. It takes a whole minute to make and will likely make you feel like a child because it is so dang good! You know when people say there is healthy food and then food for the soul? Well, I think this is a true marriage of both. This hot chocolate has no refined sugars and is made from just a handful of real, whole food ingredients while still tasting and feeling indulgent and utterly irresistible. I could go on and on (clearly), but I’ll just let you find out yourself by following these few details below. Sip, sip, enjoy!

Almond Butter Hot Chocolate

(1 serving, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy free, refined sugar free)

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp almond butter (un-roasted and creamy is best)
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 medjool date (sub maple syrup, or other preferred sweetener)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1.5 cups boiling water

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then transfer to a mug (Tip: If you heat the mug up with hot water or in the microwave, the hot chocolate will stay warmer for longer).

Feel free to add more cocoa powder and dates/sweetener if you prefer your hot chocolate more chocolatey and sweeter. I made this into a lighter version as the almond butter adds so much creaminess I didn’t want it to be too rich. But you do you. Then cozy up and sip warm!
