D e c e m b e r, I’ve waited for you all year!🌲Especially this year. It’s my favorite time of the year and this time around it feels extra special with our wedding coming up this month.🌟 . Why is it that the anticipation can feel endless but our actual day will likely pass in the blink of an eye? It’s something I’ve thought about a lot as we’ve been planning one day for more than a year.🌟 . I’ve come to realize a different sense of appreciation than this one day I’m anticipating like crazy. It’s the anticipation of the LITTLE joys of every day that make life so full.🌟 . For me, those little joys are waking up to a phenomenal cup of coffee with my soon-to-be husband, going on a long walk when it’s sunny out, finding a book that speaks to me, chatting with a friend, cooking and sharing a nourishing meal with loved ones... the list of little but sweet moments goes on. 🌟 . As you anticipate your next big high in life, what are the little joys of your life you can anticipate today?🌟

This pictures makes me laugh. I was SO in my element taking this photo when my soon-to-be husband chuckled as he saw how excited I was to shoot these Pumpkin Pecan Pie Jars😂. I was basically my 10 year old self pursuing my dream of being an artist by day and chef at night. Although my day job ended up being a little different, my nightly endeavors have at least remained the same.🤸‍♀️ I may look ridiculous squatting on my floor getting just the *right* shot, but hey just pursuin‘ the dream one Pumpkin Pecan Pie Jar at a time🤷‍♀️😂 . . . . . . . #epicurious #fromscratch #seattlefoodblog #seattlefoodie #seasonalfood #eatpretty #nourish #nourished #realfoodrecipes #foodphotographyandstyling #foodart #food52 #foodgawker #goodmoodfood #moodfood #cookingblog #cookfromscratch #cooksofinstagram #cookstagram #pumpkinpie #pecanpie #dessertinajar #thanksgiving #thanksgivings
This Spiced Winter Slaw is fresh up on the blog! You can snatch it just in time to pregame thanksgiving with a heavy dose of antioxidants and fiber from the purple cabbage, which is the main ingredient.✨ . This dish is so satiating and serves as the perfect meal prep item as the flavors get even better the next day! I’m trying to be more intentional about using winter produce because they are so delicious, hearty, and lighter on the wallet compared to other vegetables this time of year. . I hope you love this recipe and all it’s benefits as much as I do - read more with the link in bio! Happy Monday! ❄️
Love me some purple cabbage in this hearty winter meal❄️ Been making big pots of this warming and spiced sautéed cabbage to have as a filling and nutrient dense side dish for the week. I add some protein like chicken sausage or yogurt with some walnuts and it becomes the meal that keeps on giving.🙌🏻 . Double tap if you want this recipe!🌿🌬 . . . . . #heartymeals #heartyeats #wintereats #wintermeals #cabbage #antioxidants #purplecabbage #germancuisine #eatpretty #buzzfeast #warmingmeals #affordableeats #goodmoodfood #fiberrich #wholefoods #cookingfromscratch #fromscratch #homemade #healthiereats #healthymealprep #foodphotography #seattlefoodblog #seattlefoodies #seattleeats #simplemealprep #simpleeats
The blog got a little logo upgrade this weekend thanks to @hellofrankenbery ! I wanted to have “All Taste Buds Welcome“ included in my logo because I wholeheartedly believe food should bring us together. . I don’t follow any one diet and neither do my recipes. You‘ll see I largely replace wheat with a more nutrient dense flour but that doesn’t mean wheat is out of the question. Similar to dairy, I use it sparingly but it can pop up every now and then so all taste buds can find familiar recipes to indulge in. So if I don’t follow a specific diet, what does my blog stand for? . With the content I post, I hope to inspire more people to simply COOK more! . Rather than getting wrapped up in a single diet as the means to become “healthier”, I offer the method of cooking more of our food so we get to decide what goes into our bodies. It becomes quite empowering if I say so myself✊🏻. By creating more of our meals, we can largely decrease the amount of sugar, sodium, and additives in our food, regardless of the diet. Did I mention it’s also a lot more financially sustainable?🌿 . And lastly...I want to make cooking feel light-hearted and beautiful because I’m sure many of us think cooking can give off an ancestral, housewifey, outdated vibe 🙅‍♀️ It doesn’t have to be that way though! So, bring along those taste buds, take a seat at the table, and stay a while🍽🌿🥰
These shorter and darker days in Seattle certainly can make the days feel particularly dreary, but what if we made them a little more dreamy? A few ways I‘m trying to welcome this winter gloom is to immerse myself in the season (beyond the seasonal produce).🍂 A few ideas are to: . 1. Light all the candles! Even the one I keep around my home for decor, it’s worth it. 🍁🕯 2. Sip warming drinks on the daily, like my favorite coffee or tea, almond butter hot chocolate, golden milk latte, or hot apple cider (recipes linked in bio if interested) 🍵 ☕️ 3. Find the best dried flowers to display in the home or dry my own💐 4. Spend time outside when the weather clears up - even if it’s just a 10 minute walk in my favorite park or lookout point can be so therapeutic.🐾 5. Spend time with my people! It’s easy to hibernate but scheduling time to grab a coffee or meal with a new or old friend or family member can be so uplifting. 6. Visit the farmers market👩‍🌾 The major ones are still open and seasonal produce is at its peak nutritional value (and for the best price!). I love going on a weekend morning with my coffee to roam the market and gather some goods from the growers themselves. Feels extra grounding. 7. Get creative in the kitchen! As you can imagine, I love to make a winter inspired meal or treat to embrace the seasonal eats.🥘 8. Have one homemade baked good around for the week.🍪Life is too short. 9. Move my body to warm up and to feel strong🕺 10. Have gratitude in even the littlest things, places, sights, encounters - anything that sparks joy. In the midst of full schedules and difficult life moments, expressing gratitude is one of the simplest ways to improve mood.✨ . Let me know in the comments if any of these speak to you or how you embrace these winter months. The more ways the merrier!🍁🕯🌲 . . . . . . #seattlewashington #pnwlife #pnwcollective #wintermonths #fallfoliage #fallforward #hyggelife #hygge #minimalisthome #minimalistlifestyle #seattlefood #seattlebloggers #seattlelife #simplelife #seattleblog #cozyfeels #anthropologie #pnw #pnwonderland #simplepleasure #simplethings #afewofmyfavoritethings #theseareafewofmyfavoritethings
New!🍎🌿 This Immune Boosting Hot Apple Cider is now ready to be made in your kitchen with the link in my bio! . I get a lot of my recipe inspiration from nostalgic childhood eats/drinks and this is definitely one that brings me back to the days where I’d be sipping on hot apple cider after going ice skating at our local park. This may be a more whole food approach to a hot cider compared to the kind I drank from a pouch that I mixed in hot water, but the feels are all the same.🥰 . In this recipe post I also share the details as to what makes this hot apple cider supportive to our immune system. Gotta give our system some extra lovin’ this winter! I hope you love it as much as I do✨Happy Sunday, folks! . . . . . . . #hotapplecider #applecider #comfortfood #hyggefood #hygge #eatpretty #pnweats #pacificnorthwest #seattleeats #seattlefoodies #winteriscoming #falltreats #healthierdrinks #goodmoodfood #foodphotography #sundaymorning #nosugaradded #antiinflammatorydiet #paleo #paleorecipes #realfoodrecipes #plantfocused #powerplant
